Access is in every public school in South Hampton Roads!

The ACCESS College Foundation has grown by leaps and bounds. ACCESS has been helping high school students in South Hampton Roads go to college since 1988. At the program’s inception, advisors were in five high schools in Norfolk. Since then, the program has experienced phenomenal growth, and today, ACCESS advisors are serving students in all 29 public high schools in South Hampton Roads.

ACCESS completed its expansion to serve every school in South Hampton Roads in September of 2005. This vast expansion was a success, as indicated by the more than 10,000 students served by ACCESS advisors in 2005-2006.

These students join our alumni to comprise over 50,000 students served by ACCESS in over 19 years of existence. ACCESS advisors have leveraged more than $175 million in financial aid for a portion of these students, and ACCESS has provided more than $3.7 million in “Last Dollar Award” scholarships to more than 4,000 students.

As we continue to grow, make programmatic changes and enhance the ACCESS program, one thing will stay the same. The ACCESS College Foundation will remain committed to helping young people go to college.
