Fund-A-Service 2022

Fund-A-Service

We Exceeded Our Goal In 2022...

Throughout March of 2022, ACCESS supporters picked their passion and participated in our Fund-A-Service Campaign. Collectively, our donors helped us exceed our goal of $90,000 by contributing $96,275! Our generous matching partners, Birdsong Peanuts, Checkered Flag, Dragas Companies, PRA Group, and TowneBank matched these funds to create double the impact on local students! These funds will help to provide local students with advising services, SAT/ACT fee payments, college tours, college housing deposits, college application fee payments, and scholarships.

Thank you to our partners and everyone who donated to help support this special campaign! We couldn't have done it without every one of you.

I am currently a junior studying mechanical engineering at Old Dominion University. In High School, I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Hall. He understood that I came from a family of immigrants and he guided me toward every scholarship and every financial aid opportunity that I was eligible for. He also got all my testing fees waived. Without this help, I may not have been able to apply to any colleges or universities and pursue my degree.

ACCESS has helped me in a myriad of ways. My advisor, Mr. Altman, has helped my family and I understand the FAFSA and the forms needed to complete it and submit, helped me determine exactly which colleges match my character and my dreams and aspirations in life, and had the fees waived for half of my applications, therefore increasing my opportunities after high school.

My ACCESS Advisor, Ms. Sackey, is the reason I’m going to college. She has helped me register for my SATs, complete my FAFSA, apply on the Common App, and she’s also helped me with my resumes and helped me apply for scholarships that will help me afford college.

I am so thankful for the ACCESS College Foundation. ACCESS has helped me fill out my financial aid form and provided me with SAT and college application fee waivers. It all started when I was in middle school and I won a $100 scholarship from attending an ACCESS Family Night event. I just want to thank the ACCESS College Foundation and my ACCESS Advisor, Ms. Allen. Thank you!

My High School advisor, Mrs. Foster, has worked with me to make sure that I've completed my FAFSA, SAT/ACT signups, and college applications on time and correctly. While doing this, she was also helping me troubleshoot any issue that I encountered. My ACCESS advisor was the only reason that I was able to actually understand and pursue the transition from high school to college. I appreciate all of the doors that they've opened for me!

Applying for colleges was such a big moment for me, but I was not sure how to complete my FASFA application and other necessary forms. I am also an independent student, which created many extra obstacles. During these times, Mrs. Gastler was always there. She explained things to me, reached out to the universities, worked with my school counselor, reviewed my applications with me, and was extremely kind and supportive. I am extremely appreciative of this experience and will never forget how much I enjoyed my college application process thanks to Mrs. Gastler and ACCESS. Thank you!
